School News

2026-2027 School Year - Enrollment offers for this next school year will begin going out on Tuesday, January 20 for any openings that we may have in each grade level.  If you know that your student(s) will not be returning, please contact the office so that we may accommodate students on our waiting list.

Shelter Drill -  Today we completed a successful shelter drill.  As we follow the Jeffco district safety plans, we are required to practice a shelter drill each year.  A SHELTER Drill prepares everyone in the school to hide in a safe location because of a catastrophic event outside the building such as bad weather/high winds, tornado, or chemical/hazmat situations. Safe SHELTER locations are typically found in first-floor interior rooms with no exterior walls, windows, or skylights. High ceiling rooms such as gymnasiums, theaters, and cafeterias should be avoided as well as hallways with direct exterior openings or large exterior windows on the ends.

Continuation Pictures - Thursday, January 22 - Kindergarten and 6th grade students will have their individual pictures taken on this day.  Kindergarten students will wear cap & gown.  6th grade students are encouraged to personalize their picture.  Picture proofs will be sent home in a few weeks. Families may order pictures online. Pictures will be mailed directly to your home. There is not a makeup day for these pictures.

WatchJags - The WatchJags program is running smoothly and we invite more parents to come and participate in the program.  We love having you on campus with us.  Please visit the website for more information.

6th Grade Students - JA Student Transition Night Meeting at JA Secondary, in the Fine Arts Auditorium.  Please join JA Secondary’s administration on Thursday, February 5 at 5:30 p.m.  for their annual 6th Grade Transition Night.  This night is offered to all current JA 6th grade families and students who are planning to attend JA Secondary for 7th grade.  The Secondary Admin team will share information on transitioning to JA Secondary, along with details on how your student will select their classes for 7th grade.  This meeting is in-person only.  For our 6th grade students who attend, they will receive a gift from the Secondary. If you are unable to attend, please email Anne Leoni, Registrar at aleoni@jajags.com.

Student Cell Phone Policy – We Need Your Input

Colorado law now requires schools to adopt a clear student cell phone policy by July 1, 2026. While each JA campus currently restricts student cell phone use during the school day, we are working to create a consistent policy across all campuses. Families and staff are invited to complete a quick, 3-question survey (under 3 minutes) to share feedback. Your input will help inform a proposal to the JA Board of Directors. The survey closes Friday, January 23 at 5:00 p.m. Thank you for your partnership and support. Take the survey here.
