Trick or Treat Street - Tuesday, October 28 from 6:00-7:30 p.m. at JA Secondary (11251 Reed Way). This free event is for JA elementary students hosted by the JA Secondary Student Council.

Picture Retakes - Wednesday, October 29 - Students that were absent on Picture Day (September 16) will have their picture taken. If you ordered picture packets, they will come home today.  Proof of your student's picture is expected to arrive on Monday (delivery of this box was delayed), and will be in your student’s folder. Monday. You may order pictures online using the information on the picture proof.  If your photos do not meet your standards, you may have your student participate in retakes. If you ordered a picture packet, they must bring in their packet for retakes on Wednesday. To prepay go to orders.vangoghco.com/prepay (code 300332101).

Halloween Costumes - The students and staff of JA may observe winter holidays and Valentine’s Day with parties.  There are no parties held for Halloween, and students are not to come to school in costume that day. Remember, October 31st is the Boosterthon Fun Run that day and we will have a full day of fun. 

Hearing & Vision Volunteers Needed! - Tuesday, November 4, Wednesday, November 5 & Thursday, November  6. Tuesday and Thursday from 8:00-2:45 p.m.with a break from 10:00-11:00 a.m. and on  Wednesday from 10:00 - 2:30 with a break from 12:45 - 1:30 p.m. You may volunteer for the entire day or the morning or afternoon session. Winter Afterschool Activities

Hip Hop (K-6th) - Mondays -  K-6 - A high-energy dance form that uses the latest age appropriate Hip Hop and Pop music coupled with dance steps influenced by some of today's finest dance choreographers. A style that is incessantly changing, Hip Hop incorporates poppin’, lockin', and body isolations. Students will learn the trendy hip hop style of today as well as old school, and always emphasizes dancers finding their own individual swagger and style. Hip Hop is a fun, high-energy way to express oneself in a big way! Register HERE

Chess Club - Mondays -Calling all 3-6th graders. Join the chess club and become a master of strategy! You'll have fun learning new moves, challenging friends, and solving tricky puzzles. Whether you're a beginner or already know the basics, you'll improve your skills while making new friends!  Register HERE

Talk to the Camera - Mondays - Live from the Jefferson Academy Elementary, it’s SKL! Do you have a creative kid at home who loves to act? SKL is a STEAM-based program where students learn what it takes to host their own Skit Kids Live. Kids transform into skit writers, actors, musicians, and set crew. Students work together to create a comedic episode with skits, shorts, commercials, and musical acts!  Families will receive an edited episode a few weeks after the last day of class. Sign up HERE.

Homework Club - Mondays, 3:30-4:30 - Need a quiet place to get your homework done? Want some extra help from teachers and friends? Come join the Homework Club! It’s the perfect spot to finish assignments, ask questions, and feel confident about your work. Fill out THIS form to reserve your spot. Students in 1st-6th grade are welcome, limit 15 students per session.

Intramural sports - Are you a 5th or 6th grade student interested in playing or learning a new sport! We have an awesome intramural sports program that hosts 3 different sports during the school year. Fall - Volleyball, Winter - Basketball, Spring - Soccer. Please see the schedule link for more information on the dates for each sport. Practices are from 3:15-4:15pm with a culminating competition at the end of the season. We will have a Tuesday group and a Thursday group for each season. Registration is now open.for Basketball. For more information on Intramural Sports Click HERE.

D&D Club – NEW MEETING DAY - Mondays - 4th–6th Graders Welcome! - Join JA’s Dungeons & Dragons Club for a screen-free adventure full of creativity, teamwork, and problem-solving. Through storytelling and role-playing, students build critical thinking and communication skills while making friends and working together to achieve goals.The game fosters community, encourages positive social interaction, and even sneaks in math and reading practice—all in a safe, inclusive, and imaginative setting. And the best part? It’s free! Spots are limited and reserved on a first-come, first-served basis through the Google Form—reserve your child’s today!

PTO News

The wait is finally over. Fun Run is here! We need you to go to 

  • Mr. Abling will dye his hair 

  • Mrs. Netzer will be wrapped in cellophane all day

  • Mrs. Muller will be wrapped in a foil costume all day.

If we meet our stretch goal of $85,000 the students will get to see all those amazing incentives plus we will get to see leadership take a pie to the face and Mr. Feddema will have his head!
