Inclement Weather - Jefferson Academy will follow Jefferson County Schools with regard to school closings and late starts due to inclement weather. This will be broadcasted on local television stations and posted on our website. Also, Jefferson County Schools will send out a School Messenger via email and/or by phone. Please make sure your information is updated in the Infinite Campus Parent Portal.
Lost & Found - We have an abundance of items in the lost and found. Please have your student check for missing items. Parents are welcome to come and check as well after signing in at the office.
How Sick is too Sick! - Colorado Department of Health provides guidelines on when a student should stay home. We have several students coming to school with symptoms who should have stayed home. Please take the time to read the attached document (link).
Clubs and Activities
Authors Club - This is a new club for 4th - 6th grade students. Students will create a story that will be published. They will have an opportunity to read and share in a culminating activity. This club will meet on Thursday afternoons from 3:30-4:30 p.m. beginning November 14. Sign up now as we still have a few openings for this unique opportunity. Ripple Effect Martial Arts is excited to partner with Jefferson Academy and bring an after school Karate program to JA. Information was sent home earlier this week to all 3rd - 6th students on how to sign up. Meeting dates are: October 28, November 4, 8, 11, 15, 18 from 3:15 - 4:00 in the big gym with a graduation on November 22nd at Ripple Effect Martial Arts off 120th and Sheridan.
Spelling Bee Club - 4th, 5th & 6th grade students unlock the power of words! This club is the perfect place to challenge yourself and have fun. Practice with friends, boost your confidence, and prepare for exciting competitions. Don't miss out on the chance to become a word wizard—join the Spelling Bee Club today! Chess Club -(Winter Session) - Calling all 3-6th graders. Join the chess club and become a master of strategy! You'll have fun learning new moves, challenging friends, and solving tricky puzzles. Whether you're a beginner or already know the basics, you'll improve your skills while making new friends! We will meet on Mondays from Nov 11st- January 31st. Sign up HERE.
Talk to the Camera 2 (Winter Season) - Movie Magic (grades 3 - 6th) Young filmmakers work together using a Project Based Learning approach to make a movie! Students actively engage in all aspects of a professional film set. They become directors, film crew and actors-- honing their craft, building their critical thinking skills and gaining a sense of ownership. *Families will receive an edited movie a few weeks after the final class date.Register HERE. Prospective Family Nights
Jefferson Academy Elementary will host this event on Wednesday, November 13 at 6:00 p.m. This is for students and their families currently not attending JA going into PreK - 6th grade this next school year. Families will have the opportunity to meet staff and tour the school.
Jefferson Academy Secondary will be hosting our annual Prospective Family Open House on Tuesday, November 19 from 5:30 to 7:00 pm. Please stop by for a student-led tour and the opportunity to meet our amazing staff and learn all that JA has to offer! Visit our website for more information at secondary.jajags.com.
PTO News
Fun Run is Underway! - Register & Pledge Now! Fun Run pledging has begun. Make sure to REGISTER your student now if you haven't already. If at least 75% of our students are registered by October 31, all students will receive a popsicle party! Let's blow that number out of the water and set a record for the number of students registered for Fun Run. Registration is FREE, and all students registered receive a cool prize!
Volunteers are Still Needed for Fun Run -We still have several volunteer slots open to assist with Fun Run. We can use some assistance at our check-in table, lap marking for a few different grades and we would love to have someone step up to play Jingo (our school mascot) for the afternoon time-frame. Head on over to the Fun Run Volunteer Sign-up to reserve your spot to help make this event a HUGE success!
Fun Run Schedule - If you'd like to cheer on your students on fun run day - Friday, November 1st, please check out the Fun Run schedule so you will know when they will be running. Everyone must check in at the gate by the field. As a reminder, please be mindful of parking as we have many families coming to campus. (Carpooling is highly encouraged!). Do not park on 99th Ave.
