What is the Watch JAGS Volunteer Program?
Watch JAGS are volunteers who sign up for either a half day or a full day to provide extra supervision during recesses, work with small groups of students to help reinforce and practice academic skills, and support learning in specials classes.
Watch JAGS began at Jefferson Academy Elementary School in January 2020 as a Watch D.O.G.S. Program. Over the years the program has evolved to fit the specific needs of our community and to give more adult members of our community the opportunity to volunteer.
Who are the Watch JAGS Volunteers?
Watch JAGS are trusted adults who want to make an impact in the lives of our students by positively contributing to the culture of the school. Watch JAGS Volunteers have the opportunity demonstrate by their presence that eduction is important. Additionally, the extra sets of adult eyes and ears add another layer of security and reduce the opprtunities of bullying behaviors.
What does the day of a Watch JAGS Volunteer look like?
Watch JAGS can volunteer for a full day shift, a.m. shift, or p.m. shift as follows:
